would like to see how R.U.S.E plays on this
You would, wouldn't you, iJames
DJ Hero? No thanks, I'll just stick with Rock Band.
It's kinda hard to put a camera on a 42 inch touchscreen. The camera is in a fixed position, and there's no way to know how far away the person will be from the screen. It could be a few inches if you're touching it, or 8 feet if you're using a mouse on the other side of the room. That makes it impractical, and if they did put one in, people would complain when they have to position themselves right to be in it's view.
If these are cmos sensors, does that mean that you can theoretically use this for Surface applications?
Basic ones, it's missing other sensors to do the more advanced things that surface does. Surface appears to be tad more quick responsive wise also.
Can you guys also review the multi touch monitor from HP, which were released lats Thursday?
I am interested in picking one up but I haven't found a review yet. Thanks Engadget.
This guy is not a very good salesman, he is hard to understand, and isn't getting to the point. I hope they have a better sales team than that.
Ooooh, you're so clever! iTard, how long did you stay up coming up with that? Should I just call you a Micro$lut then?
This is the same technology concept in every current touch-enabled all-in-one desktop PC (like HP Touchsmart) and the newest desktop touch displays from Dell and HP, it's been out for what, at least 2 years now? It effectively locates a simple camera in the top 2 corners and triangulates touch position based on how light launched from the perimeter is blocked. NextWindow is a big player in this technology, I would be surprised if a patent infringement suit doesn't spring out of this.
According to the time stamp, he posted 3 minutes after you made an iTard comment. With the engadget post filtering process and logging in and such, it probably took him a good 5 seconds.
You can ALWAYS recognize an iTard comment.
Resolution?
The post says the 22" is 1080p (presumably 1920x1080 with an aspect ratio of 16x9); is the 42" the same DPI? That would put it at 3660x2060. Very nice, if true.
Now that's what U call Upgrade! Ima getting 1 once it comes out
At 42" I can almost replace my TV with a touch screen. Can't wait to do my own magic map weather forcasts in my living room.
Me: "Now let's take a closer look at that storm in the Pacific..."
Family: [collective groan]
Any stupid comments about putting Android on this one?
You've just made one.
I saw a bunch of posts by James White and was curious why this fanboy suddenly inundated Engadget with comments in one day.
He is the quintessential Apple fanboy, from his strategically graying highlights, his stupid poses and his collarless leather jacket. He also sports a Mastodon T shirt because we need to know he has a wild/unpredictable side. He is, of course, a "graphic designer." Which is today's equivalent of what was popular 10 years ago, the NT administrator that got his certification from Devry. He also has a blog, a Boing Boing affiliated blog, Boing Boing the pinnacle of mutual masturbation blogs.
He is such a cliché I thought it necessary to point out, which I have never done about anyone on Engadget before.
One of my biggest pet peeves is finger prints on my monitor.
Guess I'll have to explain this to my two year old, who I've been telling not to touch the screen. lol
*cough* worthless *cough* who wants to touch a screen while most people have oily hands, or fingernails, or even dry hands... we cant even get the touchscreens at the checkout line to acknowledge our existence, why would we want to muck up a perfectly good 42"? there is a reason for things like mice... and there is a reason you don't want gross people touching your $2,000 TV's
"it's just display... and then NO display"
Pricing Info Straight from Albatron:
42" is $1800
22" is $350, or $310 if you order 300 or more
Really? Everyone thinks this is cool. If you have a screen that big, would you want to sit right in front of it so you can touch and surf the web. Seriously, think about it. To use the touch screen you would have to sit pretty close. Hope you all have money in reserve for Lasik.
YES it is in Bulgarian ! ?!? and it is written : MACEDONIANS!!!???!!! What the ?
