PSP to HDMI, all with one giant converter box

Props to Lenkeng for dressing up their otherwise anonymous VGA-to-HDMI converter box with a PSP-related angle -- the LKV8000 comes with the necessary cables to take your PSP-2000 or above's 480p video output and push out a 720p HDMI signal complete with stereo audio. Not a bad idea -- except that we can't think of an HDTV that lacks either component or VGA jacks and that doesn't have a built-in scaler to do the same job. Maybe you're just out of ports? In any event, this guy needs a Stateside distributor before we can tell you pricing or availability, so you're stuck swapping cables for a while, Sparky.

I'll tell you EXACTLY how this is of good use. I have a 57" TV. It sits approximately 8-9ft away from the TV. There is no way I can connect component cables to the back of this set, with enough slack for a comfortable gaming experience. I've tried couplers, they don't work. So this for would PERFECT for me, and I want one.

my TV has VGA port and several HDMI ports but i already used the VGA port to connect it to my computer. so its useful for some people unlike me who dont own a PSP :D

Just to clarify and not show my technical ineptitude. That *is* a DB9 port in the picture, most commonly used for serial connections. I am guessing it's just carrying component or composite video though?

It is DB9, but that doesn't mean its RS-232. 9 pins is just the right amount for conductors for 3-wire component video +gnd, and stereo audio+gnd.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who uses a LCD computer monitor as a TV, and those tend to only support VGA/DVI, no Compostie/S-Video/Component video ports at all, so adapters like this are more then welcome.

Although I have no desire to run a PSP through my LCD, maybe if someone would make a PS2 HDMI adapter, or even just a high quality VGA adapter like the old RedAnt VGA Box (which isn't made anymore as far as I know, and when it was I had to order it from Hong Kong)

To me, this is useless, mind there must be at least one use (HDMI lead tapped into wall to TV, no upscaling AV receiver?) Now if they could focus their efforts on a PS3 -> nonHDCP monitor adapter that doesn't cost the earth that would be great.

Well when I play games on my PSP-2000 on my TV, it centers the picture and doesn't take up the whole screen. Maybe this will fix that.

i was playing my psp on my tv the other day with the official component cable pack. it shows up as a small box inside the tv, and none of my picture-size tv settings would actually stretch it out to actual tv size. if this does that, then it does do something that the official won't.

Yes it does push the image to full screen. Way better than the Sony method. But I just need to see that in real action. Also the cable doesn't support PSPgo.

If anyone actually read the site, this lets you play psp games at FULL SCREEN whereas before you had a severely cropped picture.

It acheives full-screen display of PSP2000/3000 on HDTV and other HDMI displays, while normal conversion or direct connection could not. Lenkeng owns the patent of this technique

this is actually a good idea, looks like a lot of people here don't understand the value of scaling. the fact that the PSP doesn't output HDTV is WHY this is good, it upscales to 720p. You can get one here btw: http://sewelldirect.com/PSP-to-HDMI-Converter-With-Upscaler-720p.asp

and yeah it doesn't matter how big it is, it just sits next to your tv. i admit, i'm a fan boy, i own one, and its pretty fantastic. I'm just here looking for a 1080p version, so far i'm pretty sure it doesn't exist (unless you get an extra HDMI scaler to hook up to this, pretty expensive tho)
