This is pretty rad of Peek. In fact, a lot of their business practices have impressed me. They seem to be completely customer-serivce oriented.
The only problem is that their product does not interest me one bit.
x2
If they're able to charge only $20 monthly for push email, you think they'd be able to offer unlimited data for $40ish...
"Remember, RIM started with what was essentially a glorified pager with text functions."
Yea, except it was 1999, not 2009!
T-Mobile should offer to provide the service.
They do provide the service. Our Peeks run off TMobile towers, and under the hidden warranty sticker are Tmobile SIM cards.
For free I meant, sorry I should have been more specific. It would be at least some consolation to their crippled sidekicks.
Why should T-mobile provide the service, or anything else. They didn't screw up at all. It was Microsuck that lost the data. T-mobile sold them the sidekick and provided the infrastructure, that's it. I think they have bent over backwards to help in something that they had no control over. The problem is, people think " I bought it through T-mobile so it must be their fault." Wrong!!!
@scrcmedic
As far as the customer is concerned, it was T-Mobile's fault. They had contracts with T-Mobile, not with Microsoft, therefore, it is expected that T-Mobile will compensate users for damage. Of course, T-Mobile is not likely to eat this monster bill alone, so they are likely sue Microsoft/Hitachi too.
That said, this is a quite brilliant move Peek, and other companies should do the same.
Great move peek.
Too bad nobody who has used a "smart" device would ever carry a strictly email device.
Old school blackberries are SO 1990s.
Remember we're talking about Sidekick users though: 90% squealing tweens e-mailing about when they're going to see New Moon.
Not true. Many of us "adults" use the Sidekick from back in the day (until now) because the push email was as good as Blackberry but the phone device was way better....
Peek. The answer to a question nobody asked.
Is there anyone that seriously has this ?
I have a Peek. I just bought the lifetime service plan. If my Peek lasts for two years, It will have cost me $10.38 a month for unlimited email and unlimited text messaging. If my Peek lasts for 36 months, it will have cost me $9.91 for unlimited mobile email. Sure, your iPhone and your Mytouch have cool applications, but, how many of those applications do you actually use? I love my Peek.
time to fire up the photoshop!
how nice of them.
What about us prepaid users? Just because were prepaid, doesn't
mean we still have data. Were in the same boat as
everyone else...
When is the Peek Touch coming out?
AWESOME.
Who cares about the Sidekick data issue? I smartly backed up all my data on my Time Capsule with my Snow Leopard "guest" accoun.....NOOOOO!!!
