But that version of the PSP is 170 bucks here.
By here, I mean the United States.
The PSP has always been inexpensive in the U.S. compared to Japan. I know first hand as I picked one up. This slight reduction, is just bringing it more in line with everywhere else.
Unfortunately, pricing for games using English, in Japan, are astronomical. Fortunately, you can pick up some used games (UMD) in shops. With the ability to download games, a person isn't confronted with finding a shop, especially if in a foreign country, and then being relegated to choose from the titles on-hand.
I also enjoy the ability of using my PSP to remotely connect to my PS3 and stream media from various DLNA friendly devices that are at home.
who the hell cares, The psp is already $169.00 and who ever wanted one has already got one by now. Cause don't forget the used market. A lot of folks got tired of their original psp and sold them. Look, there is no real demand for the current psp. It has peaked. What sony should do is add at least a gig of ram, dual sticks and 16 to 32 gig of flash, a usable browser and a touch screen. They could ask for $400.00 and that motherfucker couldn't stay n the shelves! Believe that! But that is just a dream!
Let Apple add gaming controls(dual sticks of course!!) onto the touch and iphone as built to order options and the psp and the go would smolder in hell!
Despite not agreeing with many points in your rage filled argument i believe you are onto something. If Sony does not get of there asses and at least cheapen this PSP Go Apple could enter the market to a fuller extent (physical keys) and make an immediate impact on the hand-held industry...
At least keep Apple at bay by supporting DivX or MKV. (imho people should only buy PMP's with big screens if they support this)
No, the iPod touch already is a great gaming device
Apparently none of you know what percent means, Jeez. Take 15% off the current Japanese price, after currency conversion that roughly $185. Now, if the price in the US is $170, and they DO decide to drop it here also. Then.......anyone, anyone...... ugh......take 15% off of the 170 and you get.......$144.50. For christ's sake PUT DOWN THE GAMES AND LEARN SOME MATH.
wow, people are not as stupid as you think. they were comparing the CURRENT psp price with the DISCOUNTED japanese price. damn kids learn new shit in school think they are the smartest in the world.
Manider Sekhon,
Dude, are you even paying attention....read the article, the question was raised, "So Sony -- any plans to hook the rest of the world up? You don't want to see us pout."... that clearly states the question, is Sony going to hook the rest of the world up with a 15% reduction in price? Besides that, compare what? There is no comparison, it's a completely different market, there is not even an argument to be made about any comparison.
"Learning new shit in school", what new shit in school are they teaching that would cause you to completely miss the point.
By the way, nowhere in my post did I refer to anyone as being stupid, however, I reserve it for you now....the point of some of the posts are arguing that it is cheaper in the U.S. The point that was missed was that the author of the article is posing the question to Sony if there are plans to reduce the price in U.S. by 15%. Which, if my MATH is correct, that's about a $25.00 reduction and would be significant especially in light of it's market placement and the current reduction in price of the PS3.
But since you've already missed the point, I guess this whole thing is ........pointless.
phidel,
i didnt reply to the article; i replied to your post. reread your post, then my reply. made sense to me and my buddies...
Have you guys priced the PSP and PSP Go in Australia?
Don't :)
Just think how lucky you are and move on. I'm sure many of our European friends can attest to being ripped too. Importing is the only solution to avoid wallet-rape here (our dollar is strong against the US dollar again).
Anyone mentioned the price in Japan includes 5% Consumption Tax? And the conversion was subject to Yen-US$ exchange rate. Currently $US 1.00 = 90Yen or less. When the 19,800Yen price was introduced it was 120Yen+.
