A Jamican kid would be proud to own one of these.
I'm thinking bowling shoes
My eyes!
This reminds me of the VW Golf Harlequin

funny how you never saw anyone driving them after the first year they got em. . .
same thought
I've seen 3 of them running around VA. They didn't make many of them but a bunch of them are still running around
@tonicboy -
Yes he is. Because they did and you can too if you go to their website.
You hear iPod the ridiculous things Apple puts on the back of iPods. "Happy Birthday Bobby" -- why would I want my iPod to say that?! What an abomination.
Ha. I just went to their site for the first time in a while. I had no idea that the options were so customizable. You're right about engadget making them look ugly... kind of a shitty move in my opinion.
yeah I go to the colorware website sometimes you can make some nice sleek combinations but everytime engadget reports that they have added a device you just see something a 9 year old would create I suppose it's more exciting than putting something that looks better but less zany in the original post.
Agreed. I'm at the site and there are some nice color options. Why not mention that you could do it in one solid color that looks sharp rather than making it look like they are done by a bunch of freaks making nothing but ugly multicolor DSi's? In fact, isn't that featured color combo designed by you rather than them in the first place?!
It isn't very helpful to us readers for you to make us think that we can't get a decent paint job when it appears we actually can. It's really a disservice.
Just click the Brainstorm button while in the color picking part and you get the clown combos seen here.

This is getting sad already.
Seriously Engadget, the colors are for the user to choose. Attacks against the paint quality, the coloring match or the service may legitimate, but this is quite ridiclous. Their color palette choices aren't that bad - why diss a legit company like this?
200 bucks for a paint job? The DSI is not my new car!
Colorware sure does seem to do quality work, if their pics are any indication.
They don't simply "paint over" the existing parts, do they? Or do they?
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!!
Sorry, there really was no more intellectual way to put this.
Somebody please put Colorware out of business.
I wish Engadget would put a disclaimer stating that they themselves came up with the crappy color schemes and not the Colorware it gives such a wrong impression of the service.
To those who read this yes you can have 1 solid color or come up with your own decent color schemes. These monstrous schemes are done by the Engadget team deliberately to poke fun at the company rather then showing the positive results possible.
Glad Engadget doesn't review any of my services or products, almost like schoolyard bullying.
:)
I may be the only one, but I like it.
And, I liked the "hideous" Kindle, too.
Yeah WTF engadget..... This company is doing what Ive always wanted to do...... It gives you tons of options to change the color of some really bland looking products. Id like to see a finished product. But still its a nice idea.
I don't think they have much of a gripe with overpriced gadgets ;).
Does this void the warranty?
If you send one in it does void the warranty, you just get 30 days of coverage from ColorWare after you receive the product back. However, if you buy one new from ColorWare they provide a full one year warranty with regards to regular product failure, if you drop it in some water you are out of luck though =P
Engadget is filled with suck these days. Their agenda is getting more and more unbearable, yet for some strange reason I keep reading....
Am I the only one who thinks this is so ugly it's awesome?
I love Colorware's demo units.
its just to show what sections can be customized. no need to hate. From everything i've seen, colorware does a fantastic job. never been able to afford their stuff, but it still looks great.
Legos??? Yes... It looks like a little kids toy now... Oh wait it is.
Doesn´t anyone recognize Bahuaus? This is worse than I thought!
:-P
If they did EOS 5D MKIIs I'd pay extra to have a white and red finished one.
I can't wait for the whole 80's fashion craze to go away. Styles from the 80's were bad then, and are bad now.
They do the most interesting jobs....
haw haw haw
